Archbishop Aldo Cavalli, the Apostolic Nuncio to Colombia, has called on the captors of a 10 year-old girl to respect her right to life and let her return home to her parents.

Archbishop Cavalli sent an Oct. 10 message of solidarity to the family of Nohora Valentina Munoz, who was kidnapped two weeks ago. Her father, Jorge Enrique Munoz, is mayor of the city of Fortul, Colombia. He pleaded with the kidnappers to tell him “if she is okay and if she will soon return.”

Msgr. Hector Henao, the director of the National Secretariat for Social Ministry, reiterated the Church’s willingness to collaborate in helping secure the girl's freedom. “The Church is hoping for progress in the process of releasing Nohora,” he said.
