The 2010 National Black Catholic Men’s Conference will take place in New Orleans from Sept. 23-26. The meeting aims to help attendees grow in their faith and form connections with other men using “practical answers” to present-day challenges.

The conference theme is “Spiritual Legacy, Reach One Teach One.” Its events will include workshops, a Men Fest Rally & Gospel Celebration, praise and worship and Eucharistic adoration. A health fair, marketplace, college fair, a healing service, and a Harambee Town Hall will also be held at the meeting.

Co-sponsors of the conference are the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), Chicago Province; the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus; the Knights of Peter Claver; and the Archdiocese of New Orleans Office of Black Catholic Ministry.

The conference began in Memphis, Tenn. in 2004 to call black Catholic men to become leaders in their families, churches and communities. Subsequent conferences have taken place in Chicago (2005), Houston (2006), Nashville (2007), Atlanta (2008) and Birmingham (2009).

Registration is $125 for adults, $60 for high school and college students and $40 for youth ages 8 to 13.

Conference registration and more information are available at the website of the Bowman-Francis Ministry at http://www.bowmanfrancisministry.com
